Alexandra en pocas palabras

Hi, I'm Alex! A digital creative focused on UX/UI design with a strong passion for designing products that can improve people's lives. I get a thrill from problem-solving and believe in empathy as the ultimate tool to evolve the uncertain world we live in.

I've been working as an Art Director for over 12 years at advertising agencies such as Ogilvy, DDB, and McCann and clients like Nestlé, Samsung, Volkswagen, Carolina Herrera perfumes, Unilever and Mattel. I've also been teaching Art Direction and Audiovisual Graphic Design part-time at different schools and universities for almost 5 years. Aside from being a phenomenal learning experience, it's exhilarating to witness how transformative creative thinking can be for young designers.

As an Advertising Creative, I really loved working with insights, conceptualizing ideas, and bringing them to production. However, when I studied UX/UI design, I fell in love with its methodology and user-centric approach. Testing and iterating prototypes gave me a deeper understanding of the needs I'm focused on as well as a clear path to improve everything I do. In a way, I had always tried to do so but product design has made it my unequivocal path.

My hybrid profile gives value to the projects I work on due to my wider scope of brainstorming, brand strategy, and my expertise in visual design. I was also responsible for multidisciplinary teams and felt very motivated by the enriched experience of leading and being part of a team as well as helping colleagues grow.

- Methodologies: Design Thinking, User-Centered Design, Lean UX, Agile, Design sprints.
- UX/UI Digital Product Design: Figma, Sketch, InVision, Zeplin, Principle, Wireframing & Prototyping.
- Web Development: HTML5, CSS.
- Art direction: Brainstorming, Conceptualization, Photography, Illustration, 3D, Video editing, Identity Design, Branded Content, Adobe Creative Suite.

For the last few years, I've been freelancing for agencies, design studios, and companies. Research, prototyping, testing and web development collaboration. - Design sprints for clients and ad agencies that needed insightful team based solutions. - Art direction. Brainstorming, ideating, conceptualizing, and producing pieces that are cohesive with the concept and brand message. - Visual production. From concept to final product. On my own or partnering with copywriters, illustrators, video editors, 3D artists, etc. - Branding. Identity design, brand voice and implementation. - Social media. From strategy to content creation.

IED Barcelona

Art direction teacher

febrero de 2017 - Hoy (4 años y 11 meses)

I’m a part-time teacher of 3rd-year students of IED’s graphic design graduate degree. My course is centered on the necessary strategy and conceptualization work to take on the art direction of professional projects. We work in depth on idea creation and all the subsequent phases of its formal implementation. My main goal is giving my students an in-depth knowledge of the art director role as well as helping them acquire tools and developing the necessary criteria to tackle professional briefs. Teaching is one of the most challenging jobs I’ve ever done, but I enjoy it immensely. Not only because helping students evolve is extremely gratifying, also because it makes you fall deeply in love with your job again.

CaixaBank

Head of art  - Como freelance

septiembre de 2017 - junio de 2019 (1 año y 9 meses)

Imagincafé is one of the biggest branded content projects I've ever had the opportunity to be a part of. Imaginbank, the younger and tech-savvy division of La Caixa, one of the biggest banks in Spain, embarked on a journey to create a space where all their brand values would be reflected. It is a three-story building in the center of Barcelona where all kinds of cultural events take place. It features temporary exhibitions, talks, concerts, workshops, etc. to bring the latest trends to the younger generations. As head of art, my main tasks were curating relevant content and making sure the art direction and communication were enticing, cohesive, and strategically relevant to the brand.
