Edwin Humberto Hodelin Maynard

I am a dedicated Physician and Neurosurgeon with a 10-year professional trajectory, currently developing my doctoral research at Transilvania University of Braşov. My Ph.D. thesis focuses on experimental brain connectivity, utilizing advanced neuroimaging and surgical techniques to map neural networks and understand their clinical implications in neurological disorders. My research is deeply rooted in experimental neurosurgery and connectivity modelling. I specialize in high-precision techniques, including stereotactic surgery in rodents, intracardiac fixation, and tissue dissection for immunostaining analysis. Additionally, I apply advanced computational tools such as Automated Fibre Quantification (AFQ) and post-processing software like FIJI ImageJ to quantify white matter anomalies and structural connectivity. I also have a dual scientific project on brain connectivity anomalies in patients with drug-resistant epilepsies.

Academic leader and clinical instructor with over a decade of experience in the medical field. Since my official appointment as Assistant Professor in November 2022, I have been responsible for the advanced training of medical students and surgical residents, integrating high-level clinical practice with academic research.

My pedagogical reach extends internationally, having served as a scientific instructor in specialized neuroscience workshops and conferences across Europe.
