Juan Luis Herrera Cortijo

Since 2013, I have worked as a freelance data scientist and analytical developer, helping clients design data workflows, automate reporting, perform statistical analyses, and build practical data solutions.

My work combines hands-on implementation with strong analytical thinking. I design ETL pipelines, integrate and transform complex datasets, develop reproducible analyses in R and Python, and deliver outputs ranging from automated reports and dashboards to machine learning workflows and AWS-based data solutions.

I have worked across research and business contexts, including survey analytics, data transformation, reporting automation, statistical modeling, and custom analytical applications. I focus on delivering robust, well-documented, and useful solutions aligned with real client needs.

My work included leading publicly funded research activities, coordinating the development and maintenance of operational coastal monitoring stations, contributing to research proposal writing in marine technologies, supervising academic work, and teaching in the University’s Master's in Oceanography.

At CETMAR, I contributed to project design and delivery in the marine technologies field. My responsibilities included supporting the design and launch of a calibration laboratory, participating in staff selection, and preparing a proposal for the design of an AUV. I also temporarily assumed departmental management responsibilities during a maternity leave period.
